Overview
The International Community School (ICS) is a private, independent, co-educational school comprised of both international and local students. ICS has a rigorous educational program with high academic and achievement standards. The international diversity of ICS, along with individual and small group instruction, maximizes the students' individual potential, academic achievement, and global perspective preparing students for acceptance into the most prestigious post-secondary schools in the world.
The International Community School uses the Oregon Educational Standards as the foundation of our curriculum. The students that graduate from ICS have a high degree of competence, confidence, and skill in the curricular areas as established by the State of Oregon. In addition, ICS enhances these standards by using elements of curriculum frameworks and teaching pedagogies from some of the leading international schools around the world. By utilizing these international frameworks and pedagogies the students of ICS have a greater achievement level, a deeper understanding of the art of learning, a wider appreciation of the world cultures, and the confidence needed to be a successful adult.
ICS is also dedicated to the advancement of cultural awareness and understanding in order to build positive personal and professional relationships. By having a variety of cultures represented in our enrollment, and by exploring cultures on an intellectual basis, gives the students at ICS a personal insight into the differences and similarities of today's cultures, and prepares them for the demands and requirements of the 21st century.
In addition to our programs for local students the International Community School offers four programs for enrolled international students between the ages of eleven to eighteen years old. These programs focus on academic studies, English language proficiency, cultural awareness, and action sports through an educational partnership with Windells Academy.
